Finding official publications

Official Publications are not always catalogued so it is advisable to ask a member of staff.

There is a small reference collection on the open shelves in the University Library's West Room but most of the printed collection is now held in closed access. Please go to the Rare Books Room in the University Library to request items to be fetched.  Most material can be fetched within 20 minutes, but more complex enquiries may take longer, particularly on Saturdays.

The UK government (and the publisher The Stationery Office) is moving towards entirely electronic publication so recent items are usually available online.

This basic guide pulls together some of the freely available and subscription electronic resources for official publications.

Other libraries

The University Library's Rare Books Room is the point of access for Official Publications material.

However, other libraries within Cambridge University may hold duplicate copies of some items depending on the subject matter.

Most notably the Squire Law Library (accessible to anyone entitled to use the University Library) will be able to assist with official publications.
