Need some general advice about setting up a training session? Contact teach@lib.cam.ac.uk and a member of staff will get back to you. This toolkit will give you great advice about designing your teaching (including the CILN teaching template) evaluation and other teaching tips.

  • 1-2-1 teaching e.g. referencing enquiries; top tip from English - ask students how they wanted you to be in touch with them whether by phone or skype etc. This gives students the control about how they interact with you. See Seeley's  excellent outline of 1-2-1 teaching.
  • Student Assessment: Do you know your subject's timeline of deadlines and what students are doing when? This CILN blog about a project which aimed to map curriculum deadlines has helped a number of library staff identify the key points in the year when help is especially useful. Moodle

Many library staff have access to the Moodle courses which students are registered on. Embedding content where the students are likely to be spending a lot of their time makes good sense.

  • Reading Lists Online - the Leganto lists can easily be embedded in Moodle
  • Embedding LlibGuides and LibChat in Moodle is also useful in supporting your own teaching
  • Panopto is a tool that is part of Moodle and can be used successfully (contact Helen Murphy for more information)
  • Academics can embed into their Moodle courses the Plagiarism quiz that has been created to go along with the Good Academic Practice and Plagiarism Guide: Any lecturers, faculties or departments that would like to use the Plagiarism Quiz in their own Moodle space can complete a short form
