Good academic practice and avoiding plagiarism

An online tutorial on good academic practice & avoiding plagiarism

Managing your time

Good academic writing takes time to do well. You may want to use techniques to make the best use of the time you have available for writing essays and projects. This will help you to avoid plagiarism, as rushing to finish work for a deadline might mean you accidentally fail to paraphrase or reference key information correctly.

Tips for managing your time

  • Write down everything you need to do and when you need to do it
  • Think about how you will undertake each task
  • Plan your time, making sure to include time for things beyond your studies
  • Organise your files
  • Reward yourself, remember to take regular breaks and reward yourself when you have completed a project or task.
