UG CamGuides: How do I find books and articles from a reading list?

Break down a reading list into different types of resource and know how to recognise them from their reference.

We have focused on books and journal articles in this section because they are the main two types of resources that the majority of courses will be using at the start.

However, there are lots of other resources that you may be asked to read. Your libraries will give you lots of information about how and where to search for these.

These may be in person, printed guides in the library, teaching sessions or on their subject LibGuide. Some general guides which may be of interest are listed below: click on the arrows to move the slides and click the image to connect to the relevant LibGuide.

Collections

A lot of libraries have collections of books that cover all kinds of subjects. These range from lists of new books purchased for the library, or special sub-collections. For example:

  • The Haddon Library has a 'Speculative Fiction Collection'
  • The Divinity Library has a Wellbeing Collection
