Engineering Library Services

We are now able to offer members of the department access to the library. There is no longer a requirement for readers to book a space and you can enter the library between 9am and 5pm weekdays. If the department has given you access outside of these times you can stay past 5pm. We do ask that you do not arrive before 9am to allow us time to adequately ventilate the space before people arrive.

To maintain social distancing we have limited spaces for people to sit and work, and we ask that you use the anti-bacterial wipes provided to clean your space when you arrive and leave. Hand sanitiser is available on walls and desks. Windows will be kept open throughout the day for ventilation reasons, so we suggest bringing layers as the weather gets cooler. We strongly encourage people to wear a face covering at all times, if they can, if they are in the library spaces, and especially if they are moving around.

Please avoid using the library as a corridor if you can, and please do not leave your belongs in a study space whilst you are at lectures or labs.

The measures that have been put in place are there to keep all of us safe.

In-Person Returns

External Engineering Library dropbox (currently inaccessible)

If you are coming to the Department, we now have an external dropbox located in the courtyard next to LT0; it will be accessible Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9am and 5pm. This change has been made so that our library users no longer have to pre-book a time-slot to return loans.

Internal Engineering Library dropbox

Members of the department can return books on weekdays between 9am and 5pm.

Alternate library dropboxes

You can also return library items to the Moore Library drop box outside the Moore Library entrance before 5pm (when the site closes for the day), or to the Medical Library drop box outside the front door of the Clinical School.

Postal book returns

If you are a recent graduate, member of staff or visiting scholar who has now left the University and are unable to return to Cambridge, you can post your returns to the University Library. You can post items from the UL, Faculty and Department libraries and colleges to this address.

Further details of this service can be found in the Returns LibGuide.
