Please note that if there are any changes to service levels for Cambridge University Libraries, updates will be posted on the Using the Library website.
Our library continues to support you as you study, teach and research. Access the collections and seek support via our online and zero-contact services. We want to maximise the access you have to the collections and to the specialist support available from our library staff, wherever you are working or studying this term. We also want to keep you and our staff safe, and to ensure that we can keep services running effectively - we are keeping the services and the support we offer under constant review.

Please only use these services if you cannot work from home or in your accomodation. All staff and students of the department can currently book a study space using our Book a Seat service, or can come in to borrow books using our Browse and Borrow service.
You will not be able to enter the library without booking a slot.
Please use a face covering at all times when in all areas of the Department premises. This includes the library, as well as cycle racks, entrances, corridors and toilets, unless you have a medical exemption. The face covering needs to cover the mouth and nose.
For information about borrowing, please see the Borrowing LibGuide. Automatic renewals are currently in effect.
Please note that items borrowed from the library will automatically renew once they reach their due date. Please don't make a special journey to return books during the lockdown unless you are leaving Cambridge for an indefinite amount of time.
External Engineering Library dropbox
If you are coming to the Department, we now have an external dropbox located in the courtyard next to LT0; it will be accessible Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00 and 17:00. This change has been made so that our library users no longer have to pre-book a time-slot to return loans.
Internal Engineering Library dropbox
If you already have access to the Department, and are intending to return your books through the self-service machine in the Library, you will have to pre-book a timeslot via our Book a Seat or Browse and Borrow services.
Alternate library dropboxes
You can also return library items to the Moore Library drop box outside the Moore Library entrance before 17:00 (when the site closes for the day), or to the Medical Library drop box outside the front door of the Clinical School.
If you are a recent graduate, member of staff or visiting scholar who has now left the University and are unable to return to Cambridge, you can post your returns to the University Library. You can post items from the UL, Faculty and Department libraries and colleges to this address.
Further details of this service can be found in the Returns LibGuide.
Please see the University's Stay Safe Cambridge Uni site for information, resources and support for staying safe around Cambridge.
