There are currently no changes to Cambridge University Libraries services. If there are any changes to service levels in response to the national lockdown on 5 November, updates will be posted on the Using the Library website.

Engineering Library Services

The Engineering Library is open to staff and students of the Department of Engineering using our booking system.

Part II undergraduates and taught Masters students can book a study space using our Book a Seat service, all members of the department can come in to borrow books using our Browse and Borrow service.

You will not be able to enter the library without booking a slot.

Please use a face covering at all times when in common areas on Department premises. This includes the library, as well as cycle racks, entrances, corridors and toilets, unless you have a medical exemption. The face covering needs to cover the mouth and nose.

Online services

The Engineering Library team are offering an online information service. You can reach us by email, chat to us on Librarian Live Chat (right), or book a 1:1 supervision or meeting with a member of the team.

In-Person Returns

If you would like to return your books in-person, you can do so by using the new dropbox in the Department of Engineering Reception or by returning your books through the self-circulation machine in the Library. To ensure you have validated card access to return your books in-person, please reserve either a Book a Seat or Browse and Borrow slot in advance.

Alternatively, you can also return library items to the Moore Library drop box outside the Moore Library entrance before 17:00 (when the site closes for the day), or to the Medical Library drop box outside the front door of the Clinical School.

Postal book returns

If you are a recent graduate, member of staff or visiting scholar in the UK who has now left the University and are unable to return to Cambridge, you can request a pre-paid returns label to return your books by freepost. You can post items from the UL, Faculty and Department libraries and colleges to this address.

Further details of this service can be found in the Returns LibGuide.
