Other roles in college

All of Cambridge's colleges provide excellent pastoral support. Beyond access to your graduate tutor (see previous section entitled "Tutorial Support"), your college has a wider welfare team which is likely to include some of the following members of the College staff:

  • senior tutor (Raven password needed for access), work alongside your tutor on wellbeing and education matters
  • porters, for urgent matters and navigating the college
  • nurse, for medical issues - some colleges also have counsellors or mental health advisors
  • chaplain or dean, for spiritual and pastoral matters

It is well worth identifying and establishing a relationship with the Graduate Secretary in your college. They will generally be available in college during office hours, working closely with tutors and is often able to provide immediate answers to questions on routine, essential practical matters.

The Tutorial Office is responsible for your induction, providing tutorial references and other official letters (for example, to help you open a bank account) as necessary, and will assist you in any applications you may make in relation to disability or learning difference. The Office can also provide advice and information concerning the provision of childcare in Cambridge.

In addition to support available through your College, there is further support available from the University and you can find information about the support available and who you can contact on the Student Support pages.
