Researcher Development

However, to complement your learning experience, the University of Cambridge also offers a dedicated training uniquely focused on the development of PhD students.  Postgraduate Researcher Development team provide of a wide range of activities and resources that researchers can access during their time in Cambridge.

If you are a first year PhD student, as part of the compulsory elements carried out by all students during their first year, you should follow the Researcher Development "Getting Started" advice which aims to:

  • Help you identify your existing skills and skill gaps
  • Provide training in key areas of communication
  • Lay the foundation for further skills development in subsequent years
  • Give you recognition of your training upon completion
