Training for LibGuides editors: 4. Editing your profile

Editing your profile

Every LibGuide in the Cambridge domain, with only a few exceptions, ought to include some contact details or a means of contacting a relevant member of library staff. The simplest way to include this information is to assign a profile box. Everyone with a LibGuides account should also have a profile box associated with their name.

To edit your profile, you need to go to your LibApps account. Log in to LibGuides as normal, and then go to the menu in the top left hand corner, and select LibApps. Then select My Profile.

Here you can edit and adapt your profile box. At minimum, this should include:

  • a name
  • contact details e.g. an email address
  • an image

The email address you add here can be different from the one you have used for your LibGuides account - so, for example, if you want to have emails sent to the library inbox then you can add the library email here.

It is strongly advised that you include a meaningful image as your profile picture. It is most impactful to use an image of yourself, you might prefer to use a photo of a library team or building or something relating to your collection.

It is not possible to have different profile boxes associated with the same account, and so if you manage multiple LibGuides you might wish to include contact details in a different format than a profile box.

Contact:
Your profile box allows you to provide contact details for the person responsible for the LibGuide. It is preferable that all LibGuides incorporate contact details somewhere, and this is the simplest way to do that.
