The Radzinowicz Library will be closing to all users from Thursday 17th April at 5pm as part of refurbishment and development works of the ground floor. A date for re-opening has not been confirmed, but it is likely to be late August 2025, once works are completed. There will be no access to either floor of the Library over this period.
Whilst the physical space will be closed, our services will remain available to all users. Radzinowicz Library staff will be available via email and in person in the Squire Law Library, which is in the adjacent building (link to map). Squire staff will also be able to offer support and guidance. Please see the details below for additional services available.
Fetching service
For those who need to borrow or look at books and other library materials, a Click and Collect request service will be in place, with items available to pick-up from the Squire. This service will be available from 9am on Tuesday 22nd April. It will run Monday-Friday 9-5.
The Click and Collect form will be available here and through the iDiscover catalogue. It will be possible to request up to 5 items at a time. The books will be issued to your library account and you will receive an email once the books are ready for collection.
Fetching will take place three times a day and material can be collected from the enquiry desk in the Squire Law Library, which is on the first floor of the Law Faculty building (link to map), during the Squire opening times (link to website).
Study spaces
Study space is available across the Sidgwick Site and beyond. Faculty and Departmental Libraries are open to students regardless of their subject, with very few exceptions.
The Squire Law Library is next door to the Criminology Institute. It has 400 study spaces and a core collection of Criminology books.
The University Library, located across West Road, is also open to all.
Students can also access their College Libraries, many of which have extended or 24/7 opening hours.
Printing
The multi-functional devices (MFDs) for printing, scanning and copying remain accessible for criminology students in the common room on the second floor of the Institute of Criminology.
Scan and Deliver
It is possible to request one chapter or an article to be scanned from a print publication that it is in the Criminology Library.
This is a permanent service is run by the University Library and is operational Monday-Friday 9-5. Please fill in the form below and the item will be scanned and emailed to you within two working days.
Electronic Legal Deposit
Electronic legal deposit terminals are available in the Squire Law Library and in the University Library and other libraries on the Sidgwick site. It is also possible for University members to request a print-out of a chapter or article via a service run by the University Library.

External visitors
Anyone wishing to access archive materials during the closure should contact the Radzinowicz team by email in the first instance to make appropriate arrangements. External visitors will not be able to access collections until works are complete.
