Admission
As a current student or staff member of Cambridge University, you will need to show your university card for admission on each visit to the library. We do not accept any other form of identification.
Borrowing
Borrowing is only available to current members of the University of Cambridge. MPhil and Ph.D. students, and Visiting Fellows and Scholars, may borrow 20 items for four weeks. MSt. students may borrow up to 25 items for eight weeks. Undergraduate students may borrow ten books for one week. University staff may borrow forty items for four weeks. Loans automatically renew unless the item is recalled, or your account expiry date is reached.
The library was founded in 1960 and named after Sir Leon Radzinowicz, the first Director of the Institute (1959–72) and Wolfson Professor of Criminology (1959–73). The library houses the most comprehensive criminology collection in the United Kingdom and is internationally recognised as a world-class criminal justice resource.
The Library houses around 70,000 books, 6,000 pamphlets, 500 periodical titles and a comprehensive selection of UK government publications.

Visitors
Students and staff of other academic institutions may visit by arrangement. We are not always open to visitors, so please contact us at least 48 hours ahead of your planned visit to check that we can accommodate you. You will need to bring your student/staff identity card with you. Students must also provide a letter of introduction from their academic supervisor before the visit.
Practitioners in the criminal justice system are also welcome to contact us regarding access to the library. Again please enquire at least 48 hours in advance to check availability.
Please note, we do not admit drop-in visitors.
