The Wellbeing Collection

Wellbeing book display at the Philosophy Library

The Wellbeing Collection can be found at the back of the library and includes books on a range of topics including mindfulness, managing stress, emergency poetry, overcoming perfectionism, and much more. These books can be borrowed using the self-service machine and will automatically renew.  You can also anonymously suggest other books for this collection using the recommendation slips found on the shelves. You will also find free period products in this area. We regularly restock these but please let us know if we're running low!

Philosotea

Philosotea promotion with an orange kettle

Every term we offer weekly Philosotea breaks (we love a pun here in Philosophy!) to encourage you to step away from your work.  It's an opportunity to chat and unwind with other Philosophy folk over free hot drinks and treats provided by the Philosophy Library team.  Look out for timings in our start of term emails, posters and Instagram

Philosophical Fiction Collection

Fiction collection in the philosophy library

To encourage you to take regular breaks and unwind with a good book, we have a growing Philosophical Fiction collection.  These novels and collections of short stories and poems are available to borrow from the shelves to the left as you enter the reading room.  We have dystopian thrillers, such as the Handmaid's Tale, Tolstoy's thought-provoking War and Peace and contemporary drama, such as Yellowface available for you to borrow. If you would like to suggest other books for this collection, email us the details or complete our online book suggestion form (University account (formerly Raven) login required).
