This pathway is designed for students who are coming to their PhD without much recent experience of research, for example students who are going from Undergraduate to PhD, or who are returning to education after a break. 

You are welcome to follow the pathway outlined below, but this is only a suggestion; feel free to explore the rest of the resource as you wish.

1. Starting your PhD

Initial ideas about what to expect as you start a PhD and how to approach life as a researcher-in-training. 

2. Relationship with your supervisor

Your supervisor will be one of your key contacts for the next few years. This page tells provides advice on how to build that relationship.

3. Research integrity and ethics

Among other aspects of research, it's important that you work with integrity. Find out more about what is expected of you as a researcher.

Get up to speed with some of the digital tools that will help you conduct your research at Cambridge.
