The Linguistics section of the MMLL Library covers all the main branches of linguistic study and supports the undergraduate Linguistics Tripos as well as the MPhil in Linguistics.

Books are collected in print and electronic format. There is growing emphasis on applied linguistics, including first and second language acquisition. The collection also covers areas such as cognitive linguistics, psycholinguistics, and computational linguistics; history of the English language and its varieties ; pragmatics, and material on historical linguistics and language change.
