Conditions of using Electronic Legal Deposit

Under the terms of the Legal Deposit Libraries Act 2003 and the Legal Deposit (Non-Print Works) Regulations 2013 no digital copying of electronic legal deposit (eLD) material is allowed. It is not permitted to download, email, cut and paste, make screenshots, take photographs of PC screens or use memory sticks.

Printing, however, is permitted within normal copyright limits (i.e. one chapter or 5%, whichever is greater, of a book and one article from each issue of a journal).

UK legislation dictates that in each legal deposit library, only one person can view an eLD item at any one time. Please note that if you attempt to open an eLD item that is already being viewed by another reader, you will see the following message:
