What is snowballing?

Sometimes it may be appropriate to 'snowball' your search. This involves screening all the articles that cite your included papers (the articles which meet your inclusion criteria after screening). Search for the titles of each included article in Web of Science (link opens in a new window) or Scopus (link opens in a new window) -- or both, and any listed citing article which meets your inclusion criteria should also be included in the review. Note that you will need a Raven login to access Web of Science and Scopus off campus.

Top tips guides and tutorial videos to both Scopus and Web of Science are available on the Medical Library website (link opens in a new window).
