Linguistics

Software related to Text/Corpus Linguistics is held on a laptop in the MMLL Library (please email us for more details)

  • The Diachronic Corpus of Present-Day Spoken English
  • The International Corpus of English: The British Component
  • Penn Parsed Corpora of Historical English
  • International Corpus of Learner English
  • ICAME Collection of English Language Corpora
  • British National Corpus XML Edition

There are any reference management tools useful for creating bibliographies and keeping track of your references.

MMLL students often use:

Zotero - The only research tool that automatically senses content in your web browser, allowing you to add it to your personal library with a single click.

Mendeley - Generate citations and bibliographies in a whole range of journal styles with just a few clicks.

EndNote - A reference management software that enables you to store and manage your references. It will then create bibliographies from these references automatically.

Referencing Style

The Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics tends to prefer the MHRA referencing style.
Ask your supervisor or MMLL section which style to use when referencing your essays.
