The system that manages iDiscover will change from Primo Classic to Primo VE this Summer on Wednesday 3rd September.
Whilst saved records, stored in your Library Account, will map across to the new system – your saved searches and saved search history will not.
We ask that you take a note of any saved searches or search history that you wish to keep. So that you can re-create them in the new system. We are not able to transfer the information from the old system to the new one. You will need to take note of the search terms you used, and which library scopes that you ran your search in, to recreate them.
If you wish to re-create these saved searches in the new system. You will need to wait till the afternoon of Wednesday 3rd September. You can then follow the same process that you did to create the saved search in the new system (or follow the below manual).
If you need temporary access to your old saved searches and search history (from 3rd September). Please contact idiscover-feedback@lib.cam.ac.uk for support. Your old saved searches and search history will be available until 3rd October 2025 via a temporary link, when the old system will be fully decommissioned.
To save a query from the results list:
1. First login into iDiscover and perform a search that you want to save.
2. Click Save Query, which appears above the search results.
3. The search query is then saved to your Favourites which can then be accessed by clicking on the ‘pin’ icon next to your name in the top right-hand side of the screen.
4. From here you can access your saved searches

You also have options to set the search as an RSS feed, create an alert notification for when there is an update to the saved search query – the results will then be emailed to email address associated with your login, or you can set it up to alert a different address if you choose. You can also delete the search result.
