Search iDiscover and limit and refine the search as much as possible. Use 'Advanced search' and limit by Library location or material type to retrieve more accurate results.
TIP:
Adding distinctive details such as year of publication AND/OR author/editor surname will refine the search.
These details can be found in the citations on your reading lists or in other bibliographies.
If you have a choice of names, favour unusual names/words to narrow the search.
Journal articles
Most journal articles that are referenced on reading lists are available electronically. Login with Raven and use the links in your reading lists. If you don't have the links you can type the exact journal article title straight into iDiscover.
The article usually appears as the first result. From here you can click on Full text available to get to the publisher’s page and download a PDF of the article.
If the article is not available via iDiscover check whether the journal is available online for the relevant date:
If the relevant year is covered, click on the link to the journal and click through to the correct volume/year and issue/no. then read/download the PDF or other version of the article.
N.B. Not all journals are fully available online.
If the year you need is not available online, search for the journal title in iDiscover to find a print copy.
Use iDiscover or an abstract and indexing database such as Web of Science to search for author or subject keywords in your area of interest.

If you have been unsuccessful in finding online material via iDiscover or a subscription database such as Web of Science or Criminal Justice Abstracts you can also try Google Scholar.
Always try a combination of resources to make sure that you have pursued all avenues of access.
